The journey to Ronachan House is without doubt one of the most beautiful drives you can enjoy through Scotland’s stunning west coast terrain. In fact the journey to Ronachan House becomes in itself a holiday through west Scotland as you take in the sights on your way.
It is easy to access the road to our beautiful bay by first travelling towards Glasgow city and then taking the A82 road through Dumbarton and up past scenic Loch Lomond where you can stop for sightseeing, food, golf, water sports or an overnight stay depending on your itinerary.
From Loch Lomond you drive over the beautiful and famous Rest and Be Thankful towards Loch Fyne and Inverary, another plentiful stop for you to take in some sights, shopping and food.
Lochgilphead and Ardrishaig are the next townships to stop at on your way and offer a choice of restaurants and local family run shops to peruse. And then onto the beautiful fishing village of Tarbert at the top of Loch Fyne where you can take in the marina and enjoy the local seafood catch of the day.
Ronachan House is 15 minutes south of Tarbert on the road to Campbeltown and Macrihanish, two more destinations worth taking in while on the Kintyre Peninsula.
Travelling to Kintyre by car will take you approximately 3 hours from Glasgow. There is also a bus service run by West Coast Motors starting at Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow and ending at Campbeltown on the south eastern coast of the peninsula. It is the number 926 and you can even stop directly outside Ronachan estate at the Ronachan House bus stop, just tell the driver that’s where you want off.

There is a regular and affordable flight service to Kintyre operated by Logan Air with flights starting from £40 per person. You touch down in Campbeltown Airport, right next to Macrihanish Dunes Golf Course. The airport runway, at 3,049 m, is the longest in Europe and RAF Machrihanish hosted UK military and NATO base operations here until 1997.Â
The most southerly town in Argyll, passengers bound for Campbeltown Airport are treated to spectacular views over the famous island of Davaar.
Flights to Glasgow take under 40 minutes as opposed to a three-hour journey by road.

Or, you can travel to Kintyre via the island of Arran by taking the ferry from Ardrossan on the west coast of Scotland to Brodick on Arran, and then another ferry from Lochranza on Arran to Claonaig which is right next to lovely Skipness Castle and just a short drive from Ronachan House.
In the summer months there is also a ferry to trvale to Kintyre directly from Ardossan without the stop in Arran. It berths in Campbeltown on the south east coast of Kintyre from where it is a shalf hour scenic drive to Ronachan House.

Ronachan House is positioned only a short 10 minute drive from the ferry ports to the Scottish islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha so it is the perfect place to explore the further area while in Kintyre.

For groups of passengers thinking of travelling to Kintyre from Ireland, there is a fast passenger ferry service that shuttles up to 12 people plus luggage from the shores of Ireland across to our peninsula, and onward to the island of Islay too.
